Eid is an occasion that people yearn for the whole year to observe the festival with family and friends. Eid holidays also come as a much needed break from the demanding schedule that everyone has to keep up to. In Bangladesh, turning on the television to check out the special Eid programmes, teleplays and films have become a common way of spending Eid holidays. Keeping the status quo, different television channels have chalked out special programmes on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Almost all the channels have organised five to seven days of special programme schedule.
ATN Bangla will premiere Shakib Khan, Joya Ahsan starrer Shafi Uddin Shafi’s Dhallywood blockbuster Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini. The star-studded big budget film also casts Razzak, Diti, Arefin Shuvo and Mimo in different roles. The film will be screened on day after Eid at 10:30am.
Channels will also screen several special drama series comprising of five to seven episodes. Popular character Chhoto Kaku will be back on the screen of Channel I this Eid. The channel will air this installment of Chhoto Kaku series titled Raat Birate Satkhiratey at 6:10pm from Eid day to the eighth day of Eid festival. Written by Faridur Reza Sagor, Chhoto Kaku will solve a new mystery at Dublar Char in the Sundarbans in this installment. Afzal Hossain has provided the screenplay and direction of the series. The noted actor will be seen on screen in the series along with Arsha, Probal, Simanto and others.
Another popular comic character Sikander Box will also be seen on this Eid on Banglavision. The six-episode drama series titled Sikandar Box Ekhon Bandarban-e will be aired on Banglavision at 6:25pm from Eid day. Written and directed by Sagor Jahan, the play revolves around a comical man named Sikander Box, played by Mosharraf Karim, when he sets off for Bandarban with his wife. The play also casts Shokh, Salauddin Lavlu and Saju Khadem.
Sajal, Arsha, Tarik Anam Khan starrer six-episode drama series Bhai will be aired from Eid day to sixth day of Eid festival on Maasranga TV at 6:15pm. Written by Matia Banu Shuku and directed by Ruman Runi, the series depicts a love triangle among two bothers and an actress.
Some other important series to be aired on this Eid are Deadline on NTV, Spy Agency on Channel i, Pereshan of Love on ETV, Mojnura starring Zahid Hasan on GTV, and many others.
Each of the channels will air a number of telefilms as part of their Eid specials. Riaz and Tisha will be seen on telefilm 72 Kakrail on Maasranga TV at 2.30pm on Eid day. Written by Litu Sakhawat and directed by Sokal Ahmed, the telefilm depicts the conjugal conflict between a US expatriate couple, where the husband wants to sell his ancestral home while the wife doesn’t warm up to the idea.
Bipasha Hayat will be seen along with Azad Abul Kalam in Ajmeri Nama to be aired on Banglavision at 2:10pm on second day of Eid. The telefilm, written by Kazi Sushmin Afsana and directed by Golam Sohrab Dodul, revolves around the life struggles of a woman who belonged to a rich family but got married to a man who is financially insolvent.
Some other telefilms to be aired on different channels are Ratargul on Banglavision, Soroker Naame Naam on Channel 9, Bajra Atuni on GTV, Seyana Jamai on ETV, among others.
Single episode plays have always been very popular among viewers as you get to see till the end at one go. ATN Bangla will air teleplay Sei Saat Din, written by Sagor Jahan and directed by Shariful Islam Ripon, on Eid day at 5:35pm. Intekhab Dinar, Dolly Zohur, Saberi Alam, among others will play different roles in the teleplay that unfolds an affair between a studious man and a reckless woman.
Channel 9 will air teleplay Lajjabati na Surjomukhi at 7:25pm on Eid day. Written and directed Nuzhat Alvi Ahmed, the teleplay focuses on a newly married couple who want to spend their first wedding night in a different way. They just set out on the streets and spend the whole night there amidst different thrilling incidents. Sajal, Zakia Bari Momo, and others have acted in the play.
Perhaps one of the most anticipated shows on the upcoming holidays would be when Dhallywood star Ananta Jalil tries his hand in anchoring a talk show titled Face to Face: Ananta Jalil. The show will be aired on Desh TV at 9:00pm. Different politicians and celebrities will talk with Ananta Jalil about their life and professions on the show.
Eid-er Bajna Baaje will be aired on ATN Bangla at 8:45pm on the third day of Eid. Hosted and directed by Khandokar Ismail, the programme will feature solo presentations of songs by noted singer Niaz Mohammad. The show will also feature comedy, mini plays, and others.
ATN Bangla will also a few shows for children as well as phonolive music concerts where different singers will perform and receive song requests directly from the audience over phone.
