The White Panel, backed by teachers loyal to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies, on Monday swept the syndicate elections of Dhaka University, winning five out of the six posts.
The Blue Panel, a pro-Awami League teachers’ platform, won only one post.
DU treasurer Professor Mizanur Rahman conducted the elections with candidates of pro-AL Blue Panel and pro-BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami White Panel contesting all the posts.

International Hall, won in the provost category, Professor Tasmeri Selima Akther Islam of chemistry, Associate Professor Md Hasanuzzaman of computer science and engineering department and Assistant Professor Mohammad Moinul Islam of population science department, Lecturer Md Majharul Anwar of accounting and information system department won in the categories of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and lecturer respectively.
Professor ABM Sahidul Islam of marketing department has been elected member of the finance committee.
Elections to dean of the faculty of pharmacy and the faculty of engineering and technology were also held on the day.
Professor ABM Faruque of pharmaceutical technology was elected dean of the faculty of pharmacy while Professor Shahida Rafique of applied physics, electronics and communication engineering department was elected dean of the faculty of engineering and technology.
