New Age made a winning start in the Pepsi DRU Media Cricket defeating Jai Jai Din by 40 runs at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Opting to bat first, New Age compiled 99/0 in the stipulated six overs and later restricted their opponents to 49/2. Raihan Mahmood of New Age was adjudged as the man of the match. In the day’s other matches, Radio Today (55/2) overpowered Ajkaler Khabar (53/1), Jugantor (73/2) beat Independent (57/1) by three wickets and Boishakhi TV (79/3) outplayed Janapath (30/4) by 49 runs.
Earlier, AHM Mostafa Kamal, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, inaugurated the week-long meet as the chief guest. Hanif Bhuiyan, chairman of Rapid Securities, was also present as the special guest. DRU president Shamim Ahmed, general secretary Pathik Saha and sports secretary Kamruzzaman Hiru were present on the occasion.
