Bangladesh’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World Tweny20 was wiped off as they lost to West Indies by 49-run in Chennai on Sunday.
This was women teams third loss in as many matches of the competition.
Bangladesh, who lost their first two games against India and England, were all out for 99 runs in 18.3 overs while replying to West Indies’ 148-4 at the Chidambaram Stadium.
Nigar Sultana made highest 27 for Bangladesh. Although openers Sanjida Islam (14) and Sharmin Akhter (11) made a 24-run stand and Fargana Haque scored 17, West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor destroyed Bangladesh’s middle order by taking 3-13.
Earlier, Player of the match Stafanie scored 40 and added 67 runs with her opening partner Hayley Matthews (41) to give her side a solid base.
Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter grabbed 3-27 for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will play their last match of the tournament against Pakistan on March 24.
