Speakers at a human chain in Rajshahi city on Monday urged the government to allocate sufficient fund, easier bank loan and other supports for the women entrepreneurs to run their business.
They said that the women entrepreneurs needed enough training and financial help to conduct their business and the government should allocate money for arranging training and other logistic supports for them.
Rajshahi Rakkha Sangram Parishad and Rajshahi Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum jointly organised the human chain at Shaheb Bazar zero point in the city around 12:00 noon.
Abu Bakkar Ali, president of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, at the programme said, ‘Capacity building of the women entrepreneurs is not yet up to the
mark and we have to do more for improving the condition.’
‘Financial assistances under flexible terms by the financial institutions to the women entrepreneurs will help the expansion of women entrepreneurship,’ he observed.
‘One must be well-informed and trained before using capital in an enterprise to avoid business risk and achieve success in entrepreneurship,’ said entrepreneur Shahnaz Parveen adding, ‘without government help, we cannot go forward.’
Local government organisations like city corporations and municipalities could help women entrepreneurs by establishing special markets and shopping malls with low rent and less advance booking deposit, entrepreneur Shamsun Nahar Begum suggested.
They however said
business environment in Rajshahi is women-friendly.
Rajshahi Rakkha Sangram Parishad president Liakot Ali, general secretary Zamat Khan, Workers Party leader Debashish Pramanik Debu, entrepreneur Shahnaj Parveen Sagarika, Monighosh and Mariam Begum Ratna addressed the programme among others.
