Bangladesh will begin the countdown for the World Cup 2011 from the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on November 19, said an official on Thursday.
The countdown will begin at 12:00 midnight, exactly 100 days before the opening match between Bangladesh and India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on February 19.
‘It will not be a very big progarmme. There will be some fireworks for around 15 to 20 minutes in presence of the BCB high-ups,’
said Dewan Shafiul Arefin, the convener of the local organising committee.
Stumpy, the World Cup mascot, will be located at 12 places in the city from the day of countdown. The countdown will also begin simultaneously at the Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium on the same date and mascot will be placed at three locations in the city, which will host two World Cup matches.
