The World Cup trophy will arrive in the city on February 3 and will be staying in Bangladesh until the opening ceremony, said the Local Organising Committee officials on Sunday.
Bangladesh, one of the co-hosts of the mega event along with India and Sri Lanka, will receive the Cup as a part of the ongoing trophy tour in the participating nations.
Hero Honda, one of the sponsors of the International Cricket Council for the tournament, is trying to arrange a road show that is supposed to start from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and end at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
‘Mass people will get the chance to have a glimpse of the Cup during in the road show,’ Ali Ahsan Babu, director of the host tournament committee, told reporters at his SBNS office.
Bangladesh will host eight matches of the tournament along with the opening ceremony on February 17. The matches will start on February 19 and conclude with the final on April 2.
