Dhaka University clinical psychology department celebrated World Mental Health Day on Thursday calling for extending psychological support for the elderly people.
They brought out a procession in the morning from the base of Aparajeya Bangla that ended at the National Press Club. DU pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Shahid Akhtar Hossain led the procession that was also attended by biology faculty dean Md Imdadul Haque.
Some 350 psychologists, teachers and students from different institutions also joined the procession.
They also formed a human chain at the Press Club with a view to raising consciousness about mental health among people.
With the theme of ‘Probinder Manoshik Shwasthya’, Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society also associated with the function.
They will also arrange health-related exhibition, workshops and round-table-conference at the Teacher-Student Centre on October 24 and 25.
Educational and counseling psychology also held a day-long programme at TSC marking the day.
