A writ petition was filed on Sunday seeking a High Court direction on the government to arrange sufficient equipment to fight fire in high rises.
In the petition, the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh also sought a direction on the government to submit a list of necessary equipment which the government lacked in fighting fire in high rises.
Secretaries to home, finance, food and disaster management ministries and the director general of the Fire Service and Civil Defence have been made respondent to the public interest writ petition filed by the organisation’s secretary, Asaduzzaman Siddique, and lawyers Sarwar Ahmad Chowdhury and Aklas Uddin Bhuiyan in the wake of Friday’s fire in the Bashundhara City Tower.
