Reputed Nazrul singer Yasmin Mushtari will perform today at a programme at the National Museum auditorium.
Arranged by the social-cultural organization Amra Surjomukhi, the programme will feature Nazrul songs and recitations. Mushtari will be singing the songs and the noted recitation artiste Ravisankar Maitree will be reciting poems.
New Age recently interviewed Mushtari to know about the singer’s plans for today and her present activities.
Mushtari shares that she will begin today’s performance with a Nazrul number Proshanto sondhyar e alote based on Imon raga, a popular evening time raga.
‘We (I and Ravi) have planned the programme to be a song-poem sequel; every song will be followed by a recitation,’ said Mushtari.
Mushtari will present songs like Porodeshi megh, Se je chole gechhe, Ke tumi durer sathi, Eki oporup rupa and others. While Ravisankar will recite poems like Abhishap, Ayre abar amar, Banshi, Hotath dekha, Bodh, Tomar jekhane sadh and Amar porichoy.
Both the artistes will also present numbers requested by the audience.
Apart from today’s programme, Yasmin Mushtari is also busy working on two albums. She is going to release one Nazrul album and one comprising of her original numbers. In her Nazrul album, Mushtari will present some well-known numbers like Mor ghum ghore, Darale duyare mor, Kaberi nodi jole, Oi ghor bhulano sure, E nohe bilash bondhu.
‘Nazrul’s popular numbers have been sung by many famous and respected singers. I still want to sing those popular numbers and have them in my recordings,’ Mushtari said.
On the other hand, a few original numbers will occupy Mushtari’s other album. Penned by Shantonu and tuned by Prodip Saha, songs like Chole giyechhile tumi, Mayabi Jotsna, Somoy ki ar hoy na will give pleasure to the music lovers, hopes Mushtari.
‘I hope to release both the albums as soon as possible,’ Mushtari informed.
Mushtari, who has got this year’s Nazrul Padak from the Nazrul Academy, has seven well-received albums out in the market. Her previous albums are Tumi Shunite Cheona, Ami Chad Nohi, Sei Mithe Sure, Se Tomari Daan, Praner Melay, Modhubhasini and Ogo Priyo Tobo Gaan.
