Grand Master Ziaur Rahman remained on course to a second round place in the World Cup Chess when he drew with super Grandmaster Evgeny Tomashevsky of Russia in the first game of the opening round in Baku, Azerbaijan on Friday. Zia played with white pieces with Queen’s Pawn Opening and secured a draw after the 43rd move against the world’s 12th seeded player, who has a 2,758 rating point.
The duo will play their second game today and the winner will move to the next round.
