The new blood in the Zimbabwe one-day squad will help the visitors regain their composure through their fresh approach in the upcoming five-match ODI series, said coach Stephen Mangango on Tuesday. Zimbabwe, who were swept away by the Tigers in the three-match Test series, will be bolstered by the inclusion of new faces in Soloman Mire, Peter Moor added by in-and-out Timycen Maruma to face the Tigers.
‘The new blood into our system, we believe that they will bring freshness into the team,’ he said.
‘We hope that they will start their international career here. We have got Peter Moor, Solomon Mire, who played in Australia, these boys are starting their international career and we wish them well.
‘We have got (Timycen) Maruma who has been in and out of the team, so we think the breath of freshness will help the guys stand up,’ said Mangango.
Mangango said that they are disappointed to lose the Test series but believes that ODI will be different ball game altogether where the visitors expect to give the hosts a run for their money.
‘They played better than us so now its water under the bridge,’ said Mangango
‘It is a new chapter, going to the one-day series we are looking forward to it.
‘I think it will be a close-fought competition, most of the one-day games are always bitter and tough between these two nations and I expect the same here,’ he said.
According to Mangango, the previous series win of the Tigers at their own den hardly will have any impact in the forthcoming series.
‘Well, what happened in Zimbabwe happened a year ago so that’s done and dusted this is a new series.
‘We have improved by every game and I am very pleased by the way my batsmen are progressing, from the first Test when we really struggled, and we got to the Khulna we scored 368 runs we got to Chittagong we got 374 runs so we are improving by every game,’ said Mangango.
