The Rajshahi University chemistry department held the first Zoha Memorial Symposium 2011 on the campus on Thursday.
RU Physics department professor Arun Kumar Bashak presented a keynote paper on ‘alpha and lithium-nucleus interaction potential and nucleo-synthesis in the universe’ while Jahangirnagar University chemistry department professor Sharif Enamul Kabir, also the vice-chancellor, presented a paper on ‘investigation of heterocyclic Thieles age legends in cluster synthesis.’
RU pro-vice-chancellor Muhammed Nurulla was present on the occasion as the chief guest and Begum Roquyieh University vice-chancellor Abdul Jalil Mia was present as the special guest.
RU chemistry department chairman Mohammed Shamsul Islam chaired the symposium.
The speakers also discussed the life and works of Professor Mohammad Shamsuzzoha, who was killed by Pakistani Military forces during mass upsurge in 1969 on the campus.
