Bali International Film Festival
“Daruchini Dwip”, produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd, won the 5th Special Jury Award (Sharoswati Baliwood Award) at the 8th Bali International Film Festival held recently in Indonesia, says a press release.
Directed and screenplay by Toukir Ahmed and Humayun Ahmed respectively, the film is an adaptation of Humayun Ahmed’s novel. The story of the film revolves around a group of adventurous university students who decide to go to Daruchini Dwip aka St. Martin’s Island. On the way, they encounter several hurdles. The two central roles of the movie — Shubhro and Jori — are played by Riaz and Momo. Abul Hayat, Asaduzzaman Noor, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Afroza Banu, Abdullah Al Mamun, Dolly Zahur and Wahida Mallick Jolly have played other central roles.
Organisers of the Bali Festival announced the award on November 27 which will be officially handed over soon.
