A three-day regional tourism fair aimed at promoting cross-border connections, improving cultural exchanges and boosting economic growth has begun in the capital.
The fair styled ’10th Asian Tourism Fair and Bangladesh Tourism Development Summit 2023′ began at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Thursday.
Md Mahbub Ali, state minister for civil aviation and tourism, inaugurated the fair at a programme as the chief guest.
The three-day fair will remain open for visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm until September 23.
According to the organiser, a total of 150 tourism service providers, including 50 foreign exhibitors from India, China, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Dubai and host Bangladesh participated in the fair to showcase their own tourism products and offered different kinds of tour packages at discount rate.
The entry fee to the fair is Tk30. However, students can enjoy free entrance by registering online.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the title sponsor while Hotel InterContinental Dhaka is the hospitality partner of the fair.
Chaired by Mohiuddin Helal, chairman of the Asian Tourism Fair and editor of the Parjatan Bichitra, the inauguration ceremony was addressed by the civil aviation and tourism’s state minister Mahbub Ali, the ministry’ secretary Md Mokammel Hossain, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority’ executive chairman Lokman Hossain Miah, the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation’s chairman Md Rahat Anwar, Bangladesh Tourism Board’s chief executive officer Abu Tahir Muhammad Zaber, Bangladesh Airlines’ director
Siddiqur Rahman, InterContinental Dhaka’s managing director Mohammad Atiqur Rahaman, among others.
Parjatan Bichitra’s manager (public relations) Ziaul Haque Hawlader moderated the conference.
