A total of 11 shops were burnt early Friday in a fire that broke out
at Panthichhila Bazar under Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong.
The fire service and civil defence sources said the fire originated from a shop at around 4:00am and soon spread to the adjacent shops.Two fire fighting units managed to douse the fire at around 6:00am, they said.
Deputy director of the Chittagong fire service Jashim Uddin said reason of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
He estimated the loss in the fire to be Tk 20 lakh.
