14 Dhaka University admission seekers were handed over to police on Friday for allegedly cheating in the ‘Ka’ unit admission test by using Short Massage Service (SMS) on their cellular phones. The ‘Ka’ unit admission test for the first year honours courses of the 2013-14 academic session was held at 77 centres in the capital. Tipped off, the university authorities detained the 14 admission seekers for cheating in the admission test through mobile phone SMS, the university’s Acting Proctor Professor Amzad Ali told journalists. They were later handed over to Ramna, Shahbagh and Mohammadpur police, he said.
The students were identified as Rashek Bhoumik, Apu Chanda Shil, Mozammel Haque Mollah, Golam Shahriar Shaan, Fahmida Zaman Jui, Atiqur Rahman, Sadia Sultana, Rasetul Hasan, Mehedi Hasan, Jewel Rana, Saiful Islam, Amrito Sarkar, Rezaur Rahman Rabbi and Rabbi Pathan.
The students were detained from Sheikh Borhanuddin College, Dhaka City College, Siddershwari Girls’ School and College.
Apu and Mozammel were held from Mohammadpur Girls’ High School and College centre, Shaan, Jui and Atiq from Dhaka Teachers’ Training College centre, Sadia, Rasetul from Engineering University School and College centre, Mehedi and Jewel from Wills Little Flower School and College centre, Saiful and Amrito from Agrani School and College centre.
