Law enforcers seized around 14 kilograms gold from a flight of the Regent Airways at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital Wednesday.
The fight from Malaysian capital city Kuala Lumpur landed at the airport early in the morning. Sources said acting on a tip-off, customs officials and Armed Police Battalion jointly conducted a search in the aircraft after its landing at around 4:20am.
Later, the officials found the gold contained in a plastic bag in a toilet of the aircraft.
Market price of the seized gold will be around Tk5.00 crore.
Talking to The Indepen-dent, Shamsuddin Saleh Ahmed Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of the Airport Police Station, said no case was filed in this connection as of filing this report at 8:15 pm.
