At least 15 people were injured in a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists at Sylhet MC College on Sunday afternoon over establishing dominance on campus.
The BCL activists also vandalised a motorcycle of a JCD activist during the clash, students said.
Eyewitnesses said some BCL and JCD activists got in an altercation at noon over establishing supremacy at the nearby Sylhet Government College.
Later the BCL activists beat up Sylhet Government College JCD activist Shahee at around 1:00pm when he came to the MC College campus.
Informed of this attack, his fellows rushed to MC College and were locked in a clash with the BCL men, leaving at least 10 activists of both sides injured.
The BCL men also vandalised a motorcycle of a rival activist during the clash, the sources said.
Informed by the college authorities, a team of Shah Paran police reached the spot and took the situation in control, sources in the police said.
The injured were given first aid, party sources said.
Shah Paran police officer-in-charge Akhtar Hossain told New Age that a contingent of police was deployed on the college campus.
