Though the investigation teams on the carnage at the Peelkhana BDR headquarters have identified some of the killers of the army officers, they are yet to find out the identity of the people who orchestrated the plot to stage the revolt.
Sources close to the investigation teams said that over 50 BDR jawans were directly involved in the killing spree at the BDR headquarters on February 25 and 26. Fifteen of the killers have so far been identified and nabbed. Three of them are civilians.
Some of the detained persons are deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of BDR Syed Towhidul Alam, DAD Rahim and naik Abdur Rahim, Torab Ali. Zakir Hossain, Leather Liton. The last three persons are civilians.
As many as 1800 BDR jawans , who deserted camps after the carnage, are still at large.
The Task force interrogation Cell has identified these fifteen killers, but still seems to be groping in darkness about the people or groups involved in hatching the conspiracy to fall on the army officers who were sent to BDR on deputation.
At least 702 BDR personnel were shown arrested to date for their alleged involvement in the mutiny. Of them, 128 BDR personnel are being grilled at the Task Force Interrogation Cell to get to the bottom of the conspiracy.
Some of the arrested jawans reportedly told the investigation teams that four rounds of talks were held among the leading BDR jawans since February 16 about the plot that was enacted at the Peelkhana BDR Headquarters which cost the lives of 74 army officers.
Meanwhile, the Face Book, an international website, circulated audio and video versions of the BDR mutiny which was carried by a section of the local press. But there is no government version on the episode which has created a stir among the people. The government has also not contradicted it.
