Around 88 aspirants will compete for one seat in the intake tests of the bachelor’s degree courses under academic session 2012-13 at Jahangirnagar University, scheduled to be held in October 13-20.
More than 2.20 lakh aspirants sent their applications against 2500 seats available for which admission tests will be conducted under six units and two institutes.
JU authorities said nearly 50 thousand more applications had been dropped for this academic session’s intake tests than that of 2010-11.
The highest number of applications, 78,762, has been received for C Unit under which falls the faculty of arts and humanities. D Unit under which falls the biological sciences faculty remains the next highest with 37,150 applications. A Unit with the mathematical and physical sciences faculty under it has received 31,239 applications. The social science faculty has fallen under B Unit that has got 20,491 applications. A total of 22,989 applications have been dropped for E Unit having the business studies faculty under it.
F Unit with the law faculty under it has received 12, 416 applications and G Unit with the Institute of Business Administration under it has received 6,947. H Unit conducting the intake test for the Institute of Information Technology has received 10,928 applications.
The total number of applications dropped is 2,20,922.
A Unit intake test will be held on October 13 and that of D Unit will be on October 14. The intake tests of B Unit and H Unit will be on October 15 while those of E and F units will be on 16. Intake tests for C and G units will be held on October 18 and 20 respectively.
Vice-chancellor Anwar Hossain inaugurated the online admission system on September 11 and dropping of online applications ended on October 3 midday.
