A two-day competition and exhibition of paintings, pottery art and sculptures by children in Barisal ended on Saturday.
Charukala Barisal, the only fine arts teaching institution of the city organised the event in order to spread practices of local fine arts to
fight against foreign cultural invasion.
On the closing day, music and dance recitals dedicated to national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the occasion of his birth anniversary were held. A discussion session and a prize giving ceremony took place at Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall.
Altaf Hossain, president of Charukala Barisal presided over the closing ceremony, attended by secretary of the organisation Salahuddin Howladar, deputy commissioner Shohidul Alam, president of Sangskritik Sangathan Samanya Parishad Syed Dulal.
The speakers emphasised on spreading movement and study of fine arts at the regional and grass root level for development and strengthening of the national culture and traditions.
