2 films given awards
The grand finale of Robi Short Film Festival was held at the BRAC Centre Inn at Mohakhali on Wednesday.
Two films got awards in two categories in the competition organised by the mobile operator Robi on the social networking site Facebook.
The best film award winner Since We Separate, produced by Bangladesh Film Institute, won the best film award. The Bangla film features the sectarian conflict during the partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947.
Another film Parthibo, produced by Team Dream Road, got award in the popular choice category. It depicts the daily life of four university going friends in an interesting way.
Both of the winners received Canon 7D high-end DSLR camera.
Noted filmmaker Amitabh Reza, chief executive officer of Robi Michael Kuehner, and others were present at the programme.
The festival was launched in last May to encourage the young filmmakers in the country. More than 200 short films were submitted.
The top 10 best short films were short listed by an internal panel of judges led by TV commercial maker Amitabh Reza.
The popular choice award was selected counting the likes on the Facebook page.
