Dhallywood seems to have become vibrant again. Every week more than one commercial films are releasing in over 50 cinemas across the country since the film directors and producers are boosted by the box office records after the release of four commercially successful films in the last Eid.
In this consequence two films will hit cinemas today: One is Uttam Akash’s Dhaka to Bombay, produced by Godhuli Films, another is Habibur Rahman Habib’s Rupgawal, produced by Shikor Chalochitra.
Uttam Akash’s Dhaka to Bombay features a social awareness story with much heroism. The film is about a little boy abducted from Dhaka to be sent into Dubai to work as a camel-jockey. But the boy flees when in Bombay and becomes, in cinematic turns and twists, an actor.
At last, the actor – for his patriotism – returns to Bangladesh and punishes the miscreants and abductors.
‘We are hopeful that the film will do good business’, said Ashok Kumar Dey, an official of Godhuli Films.
Dhallywood heartthrob Shakib Khan, Sahara, Kabita, Kabila and others have acted in the film. The film will be released at more than 80 cinemas across the country.
Rupgawal is Habib’s debut film featuring a love story and intricacies of human psychology. The film will show the love affair of two pahari (upland) youths, Mukai and Niruta, and the hurdles they come across on the way of consummation of the affair.
‘As a debut director, I have been excited, passionate, and sometimes afraid too, while directing the film. I am satisfied with the complete production. We have got an uncut censorship certificate with a note of praise’, Habibur Rahman Habib told New Age.
The National award winner actress Shimla and an emerging talent, Niloy, are seen in the main roles of the film; along with Masum Aziz, Champa, Debashish Roy and others. The film will be released in about 60 cinemas across the country.
