Two people were found dead in separate incidents in Sylhet city on Sunday. The two were identified as Sheikh Nafizur Rahman, 23, son of Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Baruthkhana and a second year student of Leading University, and Tanzina Zahan Liza, 22, daughter of Abdul Hannan of Manikpir Road in the city.
Nafiz’s father told New Age that they found the body hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom while they called him to wake up in the morning.
‘We noticed nothing unusual in him Saturday night while he was going to his room for sleeping,’ he added.
The Kotwali police recovered the body at about 10:30am, the police said.
Liza’s family said she went to her bedroom after taking breakfast Sunday morning.
Later at about 10:30am they opened the door of the room and found her body hanging from the ceiling fan, they added.
The Kotwali police officer-in-charge, Ahmed Nasir Uddin, confirmed the incidents.
‘The bodies were handed over to their respective family without autopsy as the district magistrate, Shahidul Islam, issued orders in this regard following the petitions filed by the families,’ the OC added.
