Two distinguished Nazrul researchers and singers Asadul Haque and Murshid Jahan were honoured with the Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad Padak on Friday at the National Theatre Hall of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
It was the opening day programme of the two-day Nazrul’s as part of the opening ceremony of two-day Nazrul’s 114th birth anniversary celebrations programme organised by the Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad.
Columnist Dr Salimullah Khan inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. Senior vice president of the organisation Shaheen Samad and its general secretary Sujit Mustafa also delivered speeches.
Following the discussion, noted singers, recitation and dance artistes of the country performed.
The parishad members presented Nazrul’s patriotic song O bhai khanti sonar cheye khanti in chorus.
The audience enjoyed solo recital of Nazrul songs by seasoned singers.
Shaheen Samad entertained the audience presenting a raga based Nazrul song Ajo kande kanone. Sujit Mustafa’s rendition of Modiro ankhi sondhay saki was also enjoyable.
The audience also amused by the presentation of classic Nazrul songs such as Badhlo badhlo jhulonia by Yasmin Mustary, Phutlo jedin phalgune hay by Nashid Kamal and Amar shama mayer kole by Sumon Chowdhury.
MR Wasek and his team presented dance recitals synchronised with rhythmic Nazrul song Rum jhum rum jhum ke bajay, inspirational numbers Balo bir and Mora jhonjhar moto uddam.
Jayanto Chattopadhhyay’s powerful recitation of Nazrul’s poems such as Dao shourjo dao dhourjo, Hindu-Musalman was another major attraction of the evening.
Kazi Shahnaz Zaman played three Nazrul songs on guitar.
The national level Nazrul Sangeet contest winning young singers performed on the concluding day programme at the same venue on Saturday.
