A Chittagong court yesterday sent the owner of Diamond Hotel and its manager to jail, who allegedly raped an indigenous teenage girl Wednesday night at the hotel in Bahaddarhat area under Chandgaon police station in the port city.
The court passed the order when Chandgaon police produced the hotel owner Md Alamgir, 32, and the manager Shiblee Ahmed, 30, before the court yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandgaon Police Station, Abdur Rab, said he sent the investigation officer (IO) of the case, Sub-inspector Manir Hossain to Bandarban for collecting evidence.
The victim was advised to do medical check-up in Bandarban sadar hospital, he said. “After collecting all the evidence, we will go for further action.” Abdur Rab added that police will pray for remanding the accused persons if needed.
Chandgaon police sources said the accused persons denied the allegation against them and claimed that a quarrel and chaos took place between them over hotel rent that night and they snatched two mobile sets from the girl and her uncle.
Mentionable, the 14-year-old victim came from Bandarban on Wednesday with her uncle and checked in the hotel. According to the girl, Alamgir and Shiblee tied her uncle up and raped her that night.
They also videotaped the raping with a mobile phone and threatened the girl and her uncle that the tape will be released if the victims disclosed the matter to police or anyone.
