Two septuagenarian women were hacked to death by unknown assailants in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka district Monday night.
The deceased, Rizia Begum, 75, wife of Alek, and her sister-in-law Julekha, 78, wife of Khalek Member, of Maniknagar Para under Keraniganj Model Police Station.
Family sources said a gang of criminals sneaked into the house of Alek and slaughtered the two old women with sharp weapons at around 9:00pm.
Being informed police recovered the bodies and sent those to Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Keraniganj model police suspect a family dispute could be the cause of the double murder.
A case was filed.
