It was a rare musical programme as over 200 upcoming singers from across the country performed in group at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday.
The renowned and noted singers of the country also performed at the show, which was organised by the academy to launch 20 albums on different genres of music. The male singers clad in white panjabi while the female in orange saree created a splendid view onstage. The orchestra included both classical instruments such as flute, harmonioum, tabla, violin and estaj and western instruments including guitar and keyboard. The loud yet melodious sound of the two hundred voices escalated the heartbeat of the listeners while the chorus presented the songs Dhano dhanne pushpey bhora and Tomar amar thikana padma meghna jamuna at the show.
Their presentation was followed by the performance of noted artistes of the country. Eminent Tagore singer Lily Islam presented the timeless song Tumi kemon kore gaan koro he guni. Shakila Zafar, on the other hand, delighted the audience with her evergreen number Bhulite pari na ami bhola jay na. Kiran Chandra made the listeners dance when he presented the cheerful folk song Ami takdhum takdhum bajai bangladesher dhol at the show. Eminent Nazrul singer Ferdous Ara presented two songs Anjoli laho mor and Ami pathohara pakhi in her charming voice. Besides, noted folk singer Indramahon Rajbanshi also performed at the programme.
International affairs adviser to the prime minister Gowhar Rizvi unveiled the CD covers as the chief guest in presence of chief executive officer of Baishakhi TV Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and noted artist Mostafa Manowar as special guests. Director general of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the programme.
The 20 musical CDs albums – six folk, five Tagore, four Nazrul, one patriotic, three modern and one collection albums – were launched.
The 200 singers of the albums were selected by the district administrators and Shilpakala Academy through audition.
Besides, an audio album comprising songs to set as a standard in different national programmes organsied across the country on different occasions all around the year was also launched at the programme.
