Ferdous Ahmed is one of the most popular actors of Bangla movie industry. He started his film career in the mid 90s with the hit film Hotath Brishti. He is a national award winner and acted in more than 45 films both in Bangladesh and India. In a recent interview, he shared his views and present activities with daily sun.
It is a New Year. What are you busy with now?
Currently, I am busy acting on several films both from Tollywood and Dhaliwood. Fighter, a Tollywood movie, has already been released this year. Apart from that, I am shooting for two movies in Bangladesh. One is 69 Patla Khan Lane directed by a new director Rafayet Khan and another is Ek Cup Cha which is of my own production. Audiences will see me in different movies throughout the year. You can call 2011 a very busy year for me.
Tell us something more about these movies. How was your experience in Fighter?
It was a great experience to be a part of Fighter. After a long career of twelve years, this is a film where I got the experience of being in the highest level of professionalism and charm. The film tells a simple story about a typical family of Kolkata. Srabonti, Jeet and Locket Chatterjee were the co-actors with me.
What about Ek Cup Cha and 69 Patla Khan Lane?
The script of Ek Cup Cha is written by Basu Chatterjee, a famous director of Tollywood. He was supposed to direct it. But, for some reasons it did not happen. A new director, Noim Imtiaz Neyamul is directing it. I am producing the movie. Whatever I have learnt from my film career, I am trying to give into the making of it. You can call this a brainchild of mine. We have completed almost sixty percent of the shooting for the film.
69 Patla Khan Lane is a super-natural comical movie directed by Rafayel Ahsan and produced by a production house, Idea & Step. The story of the movie is based on old Dhaka.
Why have you chosen young directors to work with?
Young people always come up with new thoughts and views. They try to bring the things out of the box and can think in a different line. That is why I am working with them.
What is the turning point of your career from your point of view?
I think Hotath Bristy is the turning point of my career. That was a blockbuster early in my career and I decided to focus on acting after that.
What would you be if you were not an actor?
If I were not an actor, I would become a pilot. Glamour always attracts me. If I were not an actor, I would do something which is full of glamour, thrill and adventure.
Many of us believe we are suffering from actor crisis in our film industry. What is your view about this?
I totally disagree with them. New and talented faces are frequently available in the industry. But, we are not employing them properly. We are badly in need of good directors and scripts. The infrastructure and technical aspects of our film industry are not up to the mark. The industry suffers seriously from lack of investment.
Where do you want to see yourself in future?
I think I am not done yet. I want to do roles for which people would remember me. I want to stay in the hearts of the people.
