Myanmar border security force Nasaka abducted 21 Bangladeshi fishermen along with 6 fishing boats, from Naf river adjoining Bangladeshi border of Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Friday evening. All the abducted men were residents of Teknaf upazila. Nasaka abducted them while they were returning
home after fishing from Bay of Bengal around 6: 30 p.m.Sources said that, two mini fishing trawlers of Abul Hossen, two of Siddik Ahmed and one of Mohammed Amin of Jaliayapara of Teknaf Municipality went to catch fish with 20 fishermen in Bay of Bengal on Thursday night.
Five boats sank in Naf river on July 12 evening while returning to Teknaf. On information, a big fishing trawler of Ramzan Ali went to the sea to recover those storm driven boat. As the boats were being tied up Nasaka came in and took six fishing trawlers including the 21 fishermen.
Ramzan Ali said, on getting this information we informed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Teknaf BOP commander Sobedar Mohammed Jakaria on Friday night.
BGB Teknaf 17 Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Jahid Hasan said that, after being informed we wrote to the Nasaka for a flag meeting to bring back the fishermen and trawlers.
