A 22-member business delegation led by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed on Saturday left the country for Belarus to join the entourage of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, an FBCCI news release said.
During the visit, the first meeting of the business council of the two countries would be held in presence of the prime ministers of the countries.
The Bangladesh prime minister and Belarus prime minister Mikhail V Myasnikovich signed a memorandum of understanding in Dhaka on November 12 last year to form a joint business council.
The MoUs and MoCs were signed at a luncheon meeting organised by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry in honour of visiting Belarus prime minister Mikhail V Myasnikovich at Sonargaon Hotel.
The business delegation of Bangladesh will visit various factories in Belarus and sit with the businesses of the country to increase the bilateral trade cooperation.
Bangladesh will also demand duty-free and quota-free market access for the Bangladeshi products in Belarus.
According to the release, Bangladesh exports products worth $2.42 million to Belarus and imports products worth $93.42 million from the country.
Bangladesh mainly exports raw jute, jute goods, garments and leather goods.
