The first leg of the Dhaka Premier League ended with a mediocre performance as CCS lost to Gazi Tanks Cricketers by one wicket in the eleventh round match at the Fatullah stadium on Thursday.
Although Bangladesh Biman, CCS and Kalabagan finished on equal 12 points after the completion of the eleventh round, Biman and CCS made it to the super league as they have a better head to head result than Kalabagan.
Opener Myshukur Rahman’s half-century guided Victoria to a three-wicket win over BKSP at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium while Old DOHS defeated Orient by 124 runs at the BKSP and confirmed the third spot in the Super League line-up. CCS v Gazi Tanks
Naeem Islam and Sabbir Rahman scalped six CCS wickets between them and ivdicated the decision of bowling first. Naeem’s 3-34 and Sabbir’s 3-48 made it difficult for the CCS batsmen to score runs as they were bundled out for 174 runs in 42.3 overs.
Suleman Khan (37 off 54 balls) and Abul Bashar’s 36 gave the CCS innings some respectability.
Shahriar Nafees’ uncharacteristic 48 off 88 balls after losing three quick wickets for only 35 runs and later Nasir Hossain joined him with his timely 41 off 48 balls helped Gazi Tanks reach their target in 46.3 overs after losing nine wickets.
Suleman Khan and Bishwanath Halder both picked up three wickets each for 34 and 43 respectively.
Old DOHS v Orient
Tanvir Haider scored a half-century (81 off 117 balls) and Farhad Reza put on 48 from 51 to guide Old DOHS to 236-7 in 50 overs after opting to bat first.
After a brilliant batting performance Farhad Reza also shone with the ball as he picked up three Orient wickets conceding only 27 runs as they were bundled out for 112 runs. Anhoor Newaz was the highest scorer for Orient with 31.
Victoria v BKSP
Monir Hossain took 4-35 and Arsalan Meer grabbed 3-33 to restrict BKSP to 184 runs in 46.3 overs, thanks to Soumya Sarkar’ 58 off 74 balls and Jupiter Ghosh, who added 47 runs.
Myshukur Rahman’s half-century steered Victoria to a three-wicket victory in 49 overs. Habibur Rahman made 32.
