The 28 rescued Bangladeshi crew members, who crossed border into Romania from Ukraine, are heading towards the country’s capital Bucharest.
“They are coming to Bucharest in two buses that we rented for them,” The Daily Star quoted Bangladesh Ambassador to Romania, Daud Ali as saying at 1:00pm today.
It takes only four hours to reach Romania border from Ukraine but it took 16 hours because of huge traffic on the road as lots of people are fleeing Ukraine that is fighting Russian invasion.
Daud Ali said the sailors will be sheltered in a hotel in Bucharest before arranging their return home.
The ambassador said he is going to the hotel where the crew will be arriving in three hours.
The crew members of Banglar Samriddhi, owned by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, were stranded at the Olvia Port of Ukraine since February 23 because of the war.
On March 2, a crewman was killed in a missile attack. The rest of the crew members were then taken ashore for safety.
