Three Bangladeshi farmers suffered serious injuries shot at by Indian Border Security Force troops at Chakpara frontier in Shibganj upazila on Sunday morning.
The farmers Setabul Islam, 45, his brother Abu Sayem, 30, and Saidur Rahman, 32, were irrigating their crop fields near border pillar no 182/3 at Chakpara frontier
when BSF troops of Naoda Camp in India fired at them, leaving them seriously injured, said BGB commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Monjirul Alam.
The farmers come from Unishbighi, a village in Shabajpur union of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
Neighbours rushed to the spot, rescued and took them to Shibganj Health Complex which referred them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in serious condition.
BGB sources said that a company commander level flag meeting, held at the zero line within an hour, BGB lodged protest against the incident and BSF denied to have
fired on the farmers.
