The Dhaka University (DU) senate in a special session on Saturday elected a three-member panel for appointing the Vice Chancellor to the country’s premier educational institution.
The three panel members are: DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr Shahid Akther Hossain and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahamed.
The election was held in the university’s Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate Bhaban.
President Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, will now appoint the next VC to the university from the three-member panel.
Some 36 Senate members were present at the special session to elect the DU VC panel.
Pro BNP-Jamaat senate members boycotted the VC panel election.
