At least 30 people were injured when a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch some 25 to 30 feet deep down the highway in Goalbathan area on Dhaka-Tangil bypass under Kaliakoir Upazila early on Sunday.
The roof of the bus broke away from its body while the vehicle plunged into the ditch, police and witnesses said.
Of the injured, at least 20 were given treatment at Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex and five shifted to Dhaka Medical college hospital in critical condition.
Local people and police said the bus of Hanif Paribahan (Dhaka-Metro-Ta-11-8120) was on its way to Rangpur from Dhaka when it met with accident.
When the bus reached at Goalbathan on the bypass of Dhaka-Tangil highway, the driver lost control and the vehicle plunged into the roadside ditch.
