The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) arrested 38 persons, from Hotel Sea Park at Kalatoli Hotel-Motel Zone of Cox’s Bazar municipality, under Sadar thana of the district on Saturday.
They were allegedly being trafficked to Malaysia through Bay of Bengal. RAB source told the Journalist that on information, RAB-7 Cox’s Bazar camp members on Saturday raided Hotel Sea Park in the noon and rescued 38 people, who came to Cox’s Bazar in a bid to be trafficked to Malaysia illegally with lucrative job offers.
Major Sarwar-E-Alam, Camp in charge of RAB-7, confirmed this incident and said the rescued people hail from Narayanganj, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, and Sandwip districts. Quoting the rescued people, he also said that, they paid Tk 30,000 to 50,000 each to the traffickers for sending them off to Malaysia. ‘We are trying to identify the traffickers,’ he added. RAB handed over the arrested people to Cox’s Bazar thana.
