Thousands of passengers on Dhaka-Chittagong highway had to bear untold sufferings for some six hours on Sunday due to a 40-kilometer tailback near Comilla.
The gridlock was created from Chandina to Daudkandi bridge area as a Covered Van collided head-on with a Pagaro jeep at Zinlatoli area in Daudkandi upazila.
Daudkandi highway police Sun-Inspector Md. Shahin said the damaged vehicles were removed at around 11am and the traffic started to ease after six hours.
Situation worsened when a passenger bus stopped on the road in Barapara area in Daudkandi upazila due to mechanical fault.
Police wreckers removed the vehicle from the road hours after the accidents.
Hundreds of vehicles including, buses and trucks, already queued up by the time from Chandina to Daudkandi bridge area in Daudkandi upazila till 1.30pm.
