The government has nominated 46 export firms to award National Export Trophy for their outstanding performances in export earnings in 24 export-oriented sectors in the financial year 2010-11. Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to hand over the trophies to the firms at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital tomorrow, commerce secretary Mahbub Ahmed told New Age on Monday.
The commerce ministry recently announced the names of the export houses nominated for the trophy through a gazette notification.
Out of the 46 export firms, 21 have been nominated for gold, 15 for silver and 11 for bronze trophies, commerce ministry officials said.
Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd has been selected as the best exporter of the country in the FY 2010-11.
The company will receive two gold trophies — one as the country’s best exporter and another as one of the top exporters in the home and specialised textile sector.
The export firms selected for gold trophy are Apparel Gallery, GMS Composite Knitting Industry Limited, Labib Dying Mills Limited, Noman Weaving Mills Limited, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd, Apex Foods Ltd, Popular Jute Exchange Ltd, Janata Jute Mills Ltd, Apex Tanneries Ltd, FB Footwear Ltd, Monsur General Trading Company, Pran Exporters Ltd, Rajdhani Enterprise, Far Ceramics Ltd, BRB Cable Industries Ltd, Western Marin Shipyard Ltd, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Tanvir Polymer Industries Ltd, Rahim Afrooz Globate Ltd and Marin Safety System.
The firms picked for silver trophy are Armor Garments Ltd, Flamingo Fashion Ltd, Viyellatex Spinning Ltd, Paramount Textile Mills Ltd, Saad Musa Fabrics Ltd Unit-2, Modern Sea Food Industries Ltd, Akij Jute Mills Ltd, Picard Bangladesh Ltd, Akij Footwear Ltd, Al-Azmi Trade International, Pran Agro Ltd, Karu Ponno Rangpur Ltd, Bengal Plastic Industries Ltd Unit-3, Universal Jeans Ltd and Moon Trims Ltd.
The firms nominated for bronze trophy are Pimki Apparels Ltd, Ismail Textile Mills Ltd, Fariha Knit Tex Ltd, Yasmin Spinning Mills Ltd, Jalalabad Frozen Foods Ltd, Sadat Jute Industries Ltd, RMM Leather Industries Ltd, Leatherex Footwear Industries Ltd, Square Consumer Ltd, Bengal Plastic Industries Ltd and Jeans 2000 Ltd.
