Sixty people were indicted in the sensational Aminbazar six-students mob killing at Savar the city’s suburb. According to the court sources, Judge Md Helal Uddin of the Second Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court charged 60 people with killing six students on July 18, 2011 and fixed August 25 next for the hearing. Of the accused, 30 are now out on bail and five in jail. The court issued a warrant for the arrest of the remaining 25, now on the run, turning down their discharge petition.
On July 18, 2011, a mob beat the six students to death and injured another at Bardeshi village of Aminbazar in Savar.
On January 13 this year, Additional Police Super Sharif Uddin Ahamed of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), who is also the investigation officer (IO) of this case, submitted a charge-sheet before the court accusing 60 people for killing the six students.

Sanwar Hossain, Md Shamsul Haq alias Samshu Member, Rashed, Md Saiful, Sattar, Salim, Munir Hossain, Sabbir Ahmed, Alamgir, Anwar Hossain Anu, Mobarak Hossain, Akhil Khondaker, Bashir, Rubel, Nur Islam, Amin, Saleh Ahmed, Shadat Hossain Jewel, Tutul, Akhail, Masud, Nizamuddin, Mokhles, Salam, Afzal, Badsha Mia, Toton, Saiful, Shajahan, Sultan, Shohagh, Lemon, Saimon, Enayet, Ifdar, Khaleque, Iman Ali, Dulal, and Alam.
Earlier on Sept 19 the police authorities suspended SI Haris Sikdar and SI Anwar Hossain and closed OC Mahbubur Rahman of Savar police station on charge of their negligence in handling the gruesome killing of six college and university students.
On August 10 in 2011, a one-member judicial committee had been formed for investigating the lynching of the six students.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate AKM Enamul Haque issued an order for formation of the committee in line with an earlier directive of High Court.
Negligence of duty by policemen is responsible for the brutal killing of the six students in mob beating at Aminbazar said the judicial inquiry report.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate KM Enamul Haque, accompanied by judicial enquiry officer Utpal Roy Chowdhury, submitted the 200-page report to the Supreme Court.
“The victims were not robbers. They were completely innocent,” a source said quoting the findings of the report placed to Supreme Court registrar AKM Shamsul Islam.
On September 19 in 2011, a police investigation on the lynching of the six college students also said the suspects were not involved in any criminal activities.
The departmental investigation, led by Additional IGP Amiruddin, also found negligence in duty by the on-duty police personnel responsible for the killings.
Police allegedly forced Al-Amin, the lone survivor of the mass beating at Keblarchar of Aminbazar to admit that they had gone to the place to smoke cannabis.
Al-Amin made the allegation talking to newsmen at his Darussalam residence.
