Road Safety Foundation says
At least 641 people were killed and 1,364 injured in 528 road accidents across the country in May, according to Road Safety Foundation.
In a press release issued today (June 6, 2022), the non-government organisation said 84 among the deceased were women and 97 were children.
A total of 279 people died in 247 motorcycle accidents, which accounted for 43.52 percent of the total deaths, the press release said.
Some 119 pedestrians and 91 drivers and helpers were killed in accidents during this period.
At least four people were killed and two went missing in seven waterway accidents while 17 were killed and three injured in 13 train accidents.
Road Safety Foundation collected the data based on reports in nine national dailies, seven online news portals and electronic media.
