A total of 6,778 students were absent in the Bangla first paper test on the first day of the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent Dakhil and vocational examinations on Sunday, the education ministry’s control room said. The control room also said nine students were expelled for adopting unfair meanson the day.
Of the nine, six were under the Technical Education Board, two under Mdarassah education board and one under Jessore board.
Of the absent students, 876 were under Dhaka education board, 602 under Comilla education board, 442 under Jessore education board, 337 under Rajshahi education board, 318 under Chittagong education board, 197 under Sylhet education board, 212 under Barisal education board, 342 under Dinajpur education board, 2400 under Madrassah Education Board and 1052 under the Technical Education Board.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid visited the Mothijheel Government Boys’ High School centre in the morning.
This year, 14,32,727 students — 7,33,202 boys and 6,99,525 girls — of 27,489 institutions are taking the exams at 2842 centers across the country. Of the total students, 12,75,159 are regular and 1,57,568 irregular.
This year, 10,90,555 students will take the SSC exams under eight general education boards, 2,39,749 under madrassah board and 1,02,423 under the technical education board.
Exams of 21 subjects other than Bangla first and second papers, English first and second papers and mathematics will be held in creative questions. Question papers of the creative methods will be the same for all boards.
The written exams will end on March 22 and practical exams will begin on March 23. The results would be published in 60 days after the exams.
Students will take Bangla second paper exam on Tuesday.
