Seven people were arrested early Friday in connection with the killing of cameraman Shahidul Islam, who made programmes for Bangladesh Television, at his Uttara office on Tuesday.
The Rapid Action Battalion detained two staff of Shahidul’s office – Raihan, 20, also known as Rohan, and Litu Anam, 19, also known as Liton, – and Aslam Uddin, 19, Aman Ullah, 19, from Shalgharia in Pabna at about 3:00am, the battalion said.
Based on their statements, the battalion detained Mahbuba Akter Trisha, 18, Abir Hossain Badhan, 18, Tofazzal Hossain, 23, from Mohammadpur and Adabor areas in the capital, it said.
The battalion claimed that Raihan and Litu had masterminded the killing following professional conflict and the others helped them in the killing.
The battalion handed the detainees over to Uttara west police station.
Sahidul ran his business house, Media Vision, from three rented rooms in a building which also houses a school.
