An 8-year old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Shipaibagh area in the capital. Khilgaon police recovered the body of Antora from her aunt’s residence in Shipaibagh at around 9:00am Monday. Antora was a student of class two. She was the daughter of Ali Hossain, from Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj. The girl along with her father lived at her aunt Fatema’s house in Shipaibagh, and her mother works abroad. Fatema’s husband, her son and her daughter also lives in the same house. Sources said, on the night of incident, the family watched TV till 2:00am.
Mohammad Noor Alam Siddiqi, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) senior assistant commissioner (Khilgaon Zone) said, “I found some bloodstains on her clothes but I can not confirm if it was a murder or a natural death.”
After performing an inquest of the body, doctors at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital suspected that the girl was raped and murdered, hospital sources said. Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman, the deputy police commissioner (Mothijeel) of DMP however, said, “If the girl was raped and murdered, some marks of injury would be visible on the body. We did not find any such marks… but we sent the body for autopsy.”
An unnatural death case was recorded, but we shall take the next course of action after the autopsy report, the DMP official added. Antora’s body was handed over to relatives for burial.
