On the 54th UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad) in 2025, the rulers of the UAE granted royal pardons to 440 Bangladeshi prisoners.
During the Union Day celebrations, UAE leaders pardoned thousands of inmates nationwide, marking one of the largest clemency efforts in recent years, according to a press release from the UAE Embassy on 14 January.
These pardons highlight the UAE’s tradition of showing mercy on important national and religious occasions.
The UAE rulers frequently issue royal pardons during events like Eid holidays and National Day, encouraging forgiveness, family reunification, and social reintegration.
Recent pardon initiatives in late 2025 included thousands of prisoners from various nationalities, including Bangladeshi citizens, giving them a chance for a new beginning.
