The students passed this year’s SSC or equivalent examinations will be admitted to the colleges based on their results. No admission test will be held this year but GPA-5 achievers will get priority.
The government yesterday published a policy for admission in 2010-2011 academic session.
The policy has fixed the price of admission forms at Tk 10 and fees for admission management at Tk 50.
The college authorities would take Tk 100 for registration, Tk 25 for sports, Tk 15 for rover scout and girls guide, Tk 15 for Red Crescent, Tk 7 for science and technology and Tk 25 for subject or group changing fee.
The last date of admission without late fee is June 28 while with late fee it is July 11. Classes would begin on July 1.
According to the policy, 43 points will be counted as the highest point of the GPA-5 achievers. The students whose points are in between 43 and 40 will get priority in the admission.
Like the previous year, the ministry kept the provision of leaving 88 percent seats of colleges in six divisional headquarters open for all students.
Of the rest 12 percent, 7 percent seats of those institutions would be kept reserved for the students from outside the divisional headquarters and 5 percent for the children or dependents of the freedom fighters.
In the new policy, the college authorities will have to publish all information on the website.
All the colleges will publish the list of nominated candidates simultaneously on June 17.
Monthly Pay Order (MPO) along with teaching permission or approval of the private colleges will be cancelled if any deviation from the policy is found, it says.
A total of 713,560 students have passed in SSC examinations under eight education boards this year while there are 810,000 seats in 3,353 government and non-government colleges, according to the statistics of the education ministry.
