Nazma wins 6-gold with new records
BKSP and Bangladesh Ansar fought hard to establish their full domination in the BRB Cables 26th National aged group swimming competition at National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Friday.
After ending the day two, BKSP brought their tally to 33 gold but Ansar closely followed them with 31 gold. Apart from the two clubs, the other clubs even did not come close to the duo with the third placed Agrajatra Swimming Club got just three gold medals.
The second day was marked with eight new records in 27 events which all were established by the Ansar swimmers. Stunningly, holders BKSP swimmers could not make any new records.
The day belonged to Ansar’s woman swimmer Nazma Khatun, who made three new records on the day two. Jewel Ahmed, the hero of the first day, also stormed in the pool with setting two new records. Muslima Khatun made two while Rozina Khatun set one new record. Eventually Jewel individually hold the highest gold winners till the second day with capturing seven gold where with rewriting the timing in five events while Nazma Khatun obtained six, all of them record making endeavor.
Jewel Ahmed bettered the old record of 1.07.15 in 100-meter backstroke in 15-17 aged group with setting a new record of 1.05.34 to clinch the gold. He also hit the new record in 400-meter individual medley with the timing of 5.11.09 where the old record was 5.11.18 seconds. Nazma Khatun, however then hogged the spotlight with setting new records repeatedly to stun the people.
She firstly set the new record in 100-meter butterfly in 13-14 aged group with clocking just 1.15.37 outclassing the old record of 1.17.68. And then clinched the 50-meter free style emphatically with taking a time of 31.23 seconds to set a new record bettering the old one of 32.18.
In the 200-meter backstroke in girls group, Nazma Khatun also established new timing of 2.55.55 bettering the old record of 3.00.35.
Muslima Khatun of Ansar set two new records in 15-17 girls aged group which came in 400-meter individual medley and 200-meter butterfly while Rozina Khatun of the same club made one new record in 50-meter free style in 15-17 girls aged group.
