Shilpa Shetty may lose all those lovely tresses of hers, just for a movie role.
Rumour has it that the actress is set to crop off her crowning mane for her next film Desire , which is an English flick by a Malayalam Director R. Sarath and is produced by Sharad Hegde.
It is reported that in the screenplay Shilpa is required to look bald for a few sequences. Now, it remains to be seen whether Shilpa actually does go bald like Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi did for film Water ,which was eventually made with a different cast.
Responding to the rumours, Shilpa told a tabloid: “I can’t reveal everything about my role. If I tell you everything now why would you watch the film?”
According to Shilpa, this role is very challenging as it demands her to be an Odissi expert. Shilpa already knows Bharatnatyam, but for this film she is learning Odissi.
‘Desire’ is first Indo-Chinese film, being produced by C-9 Motion Pictures in association with Indish Creations. The movie’s lead actor is Chinese star Xia Yu.
The story of ‘Desire’ is about an Indian woman Goutami (Shilpa Shetty), who is an Odissi dancer and a Chinese man Jai Leang (Xia Yu), a talented artist.
The movie’s cast includes Jaya Prada, Anupam Kher , Sachin Khedekar, Sheetal Menon and Nakul Vaid. According to some reports, the film’s first leg of shoot has already started in Kerala.
Director R. Sarath says, “Essentially, ‘Desire’ is a passionate film mainly dealing with dance, music, art, culture and emotions.”
