The 7th Women Entrepreneur Trade Expo (Dosti-WETEX) will be held from 24 to 29 this month at BICC in the city.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the Expo at Milkyway in BICC on August 24. A total of 120 women entrepreneurs from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, China and Thailand are expected to install 107 stalls at this weeklong DOSTI-WETEX, a joint women empowerment project of Pakistan High Commission to Dhaka, to exhibit their products ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. This was disclosed at a press conference held at National Press Club on Saturday.
Organisers said the initiative has been taken aiming at identifying Bangladesh women entrepreneurs with adequate production capacity for export and assisting them in networking with women entrepreneurs from the region. The High Commission of Pakistan to Dhaka and the WETEX management Committee comprising Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), MIDAS, BRAC, SME Foundation, Women Entrepreneur Association (WEA), Alfalah Bank Ltd-Bangladesh, Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) jointly organise this trade expo. Addressing the press conference, Obaidur Rahman Nijamoni, Councilor of Pakistan High Commission to Dhaka said, they are trying to providing special training to Bangladesh women entrepreneur.
He informed that they are discussing with Fashion Design Institute in the UK in this regard. Moshiur Rahman, General Manager of MIDAS, Munmon Rahman, a representative of BWCCI, and Md. Kamaruzzaman, representative of Alfalah Bank Ltd, among others, were present at the press conference.
